Lambeth Learning is a learning guide and resource facility for those who live and work in Lambeth.   • The Learning and Skills Council

Responsible for funding and planning education and training for over 16 year olds in England.

  • Modern Apprenticeships 

A wide range of information on modern apprenticeships for both young people (16-24) and employers. Modern apprenticeships can provide on the job learning in order to build knowledge and skills, gain qualifications whilst still earning money. Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of fields including administration, construction, customer service, engineering, finance, health and beauty, health care and public service, hospitality, manufacturing, media, recreation and travel and transport.

  • New Entrepreneur Scholarships

Scheme to help budding entrepreneurs in deprived areas access business and management skills training, mentoring, advice and guidance. Candidates are enrolled onto free training courses. Available to anybody over 18, not in full time education, in a deprived area, and establishing or running a new business.

  • Southwark Community Grid for Learning

Southwark Community Grid for Learning is a facility for both members of the community and learning providers. It has information on all types of learning available in Southwark and allows users to search courses, resources and links for details of what's on where, general advice and information. Connexions is about linking up the many different services that help young people to make the important decisions that affect their lives.   • The Princes Trust

Aims to help people aged 18-30 fulfil their potential. Offer low interest loans and grants up to £1500 for individuals or £3000 for groups. Also offer a pre-start, test-marketing grant of £250. Also has a scheme for 50+ entrepreneurs offering £5000 on preferential loan terms to those planning a business start-up.

  • Fellowship Awards

NESTA, the National Endowment for Science, technology and the Arts has launched a new funding initiative. The Dream Time Fellowship Awards are aimed at individual high achievers to innovate and explore new ideas and associations that may emerge through periods of intense personal development. Awards are for up to one year and the maximum award available is £40,000.
