With a route from Covent Garden to the City of London via the South Bank, it opens up riverside London. Taking in some of London's best known tourist attractions it links river piers, three mainline stations and five Underground stations in the Cross River area.
The service runs every day from 6am to midnight and is fully integrated in the Travelcard system. It is used by commuters but is also an ideal way for visitors to explore the city.
With interactive screen on board highlighting tourist attractions en route, it makes exploring the Cross River area as simple as hopping on and off a bus.
Each Riverside bus, which operates under the street name of RV1, has a distinctive livery, giving them a colourful identity. The buses, which run every ten minutes, offer excellent access for those with mobility requirements.
When it was launched, Julia Grollman, of the Old Operating Theatre, one of visitor attractions along its route, said: "It's an imaginative idea to link a new regular bus service to tourist promotion. Visitors will be able to use the service to plan their day and it will provide a vital new link between attractions on both sides of the river."
